UBC Division of Palliative Care CME Day 2024

November 22, 2024 @ 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

Audience: family physicians, hospitalists, palliative care specialists, mental health professionals, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, residents and students.

Overview: This year we will be exploring challenges and strategies in delivering compassionate end-of-life care for the most vulnerable patient populations – including in unique settings such as ER, prisons and unstable housing. We will also be reviewing innovative interventions including Ketamine and Psilocybin to address mood related issues in the palliative care setting. This conference promises to be a pivotal moment in the evolution of palliative care, bringing together experts, practitioners, and advocates committed to excellence in end-of-life care.

At the end of this conference, the audience will be able to:

  • Initiate goals of care conversations in high pressured environments
  • Recognize future potential roles of Ketamine and Psilocybin in palliative care setting
  • Apply evidence-based palliative approach to nausea, vomiting and constipation management
  • Examine unique complexities, challenges and considerations in providing palliative care for incarcerated patients and those who are vulnerably housed
