SUMMARY:How Urine Tests Drive Antibiotic Overuse Across Health Sectors - Choosing Wisely
DESCRIPTION:Urine dipsticks and urinalysis are often used to diagnose suspected urinary tract infections (UTIs). But they are often inaccurate in older adults\, and the results lead to a cascade of unnecessary testing and antibiotic use. This happens in long-term care\, primary care and emergency departments\, and the resulting cascade frequently follows the patient across care settings. \nJoin Choosing Wisely Talks on November 18 at 1 p.m. ET to discuss why low-value urine testing persists\, the impact on antibiotic use\, and system-wide strategies to improve practice. \nREGISTER
