SUMMARY:Atlas CareMap Series: Helping Caregivers Map Their Care Connections
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \nCaregivers are at the heart of our health system\, yet too many are navigating their role without the support they need. By mapping out their networks\, we can begin to identify strengths\, uncover gaps\, and have more meaningful conversations about support. \nJoin us for an upcoming workshop to learn more about Atlas CareMaps\, a simple\, visual approach to understanding caregiver networks. Presented with support from the Rexall Care Network\, this workshop will explore how CareMaps work and how they can spark clearer conversations about connection\, awareness\, and the realities caregivers face every day. You will also gain practical ways to introduce CareMaps in your own organization or community. \nAll Atlas CareMap workshops offer the same training\, so you can choose the session date and time that work best for you: \n\nApril 16\, 2026\, from 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m. ET | Register here\nMay 19\, 2026\, from 9:30–11 a.m. ET | Register here

SUMMARY:Colorectal Cancer Canada - Day on the Hill
DESCRIPTION:This March\, we March.\nWe are calling on our entire community to join us on Parliament Hill on March 10 to deliver a single\, undeniable message to our legislators: 50 is too late. \nWhile other nations have already lowered the colorectal cancer screening age to 45\, Canada is lagging behind. That 5-year gap represents thousands of diagnoses\, thousands of families\, and thousands of lives. \nWe are going to Ottawa to close that gap. \nTHE PLAN: We will gather as one voice with one message: earlier screening saves lives. We will create a “Blue Wave” on the Hill—survivors\, caregivers\, and supporters standing shoulder-to-shoulder to demand the change our community deserves. To ensure this visual is impossible to ignore\, we ask that you please come dressed in blue. \n\nWHEN: March 10\, 2026 at 11:00am\nWHERE: Parliament Hill\, Ottawa – Centennial Flame.\nWHY: To lower the screening age to 45.\n\nWe will provide the signs and Blue Toques to top off your blue attire and keep you warm; we just need you to bring your voice and your presence. Whether you are walking for yourself\, for a loved one\, or for the future of healthcare in Canada\, your presence sends a powerful signal that politicians cannot ignore. \nLet’s make sure they hear us loud and clear. \nThis March\, we March. \nWith gratitude and determination\, \nThe Colorectal Cancer Canada Team

SUMMARY:No Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the screening of the film No Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial\, followed by a panel discussion on grief and homelessness. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the UVic Institute on Aging & Lifelong Health\, BC Centre for Palliative Care\, Victoria Hospice\, Island Health\, and Kelowna Homelessness Research Centre\, for the first showing of the film in Victoria BC\, followed by a panel discussion. \nFilm Screening\nNo Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial is a powerful and intimate documentary that sheds light on a deeply overlooked aspect of the homelessness crisis: people’s grief following the death of someone they care about. Through the voices and stories of individuals living with unstable housing in Kelowna\, the film explores what it means to grieve without a house\, and how loss echoes through a community already struggling to survive. \nCentered around the creation and meaning of the White Cart Memorial—a grassroots\, mobile tribute to unhoused lives lost—the film weaves together research\, personal lived experience testimonies\, community organization reflections\, and future action plans for the city of Kelowna. This film captures the emotional and logistical challenges of grieving in public spaces. \nDedicated to the memories of all unhoused lives lost—and those who carry their grief forward—No Fixed Address: The White Cart Memorial urges us to rethink how we hold space for mourning in public\, and how we can come together to build more compassionate\, inclusive systems of care. Because only through community can we create safer places to grieve\, to heal\, and to remember. \nPanel Discussion\nThe post-screening panel will include:\nCarley McConnachie\, PEERS\, Outreach Worker;\nHeidi Wigmore\, Victoria Hospice\, Grief Counsellor;\nJoshua Black\, co-producer and director of No Fixed Address;\nKim Toombs\, AVI Health and Community Services\, Senior Director;\nMarion Selfrige\, Cool Aid Community Health Centre\, Research Manager; and\nStephanie Laing\, co-producer and director of No Fixed Address. \nWatch the No Fixed Address trailer here: https://vimeo.com/1115956034
