DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAn elevator pitch is a clear\, brief message\, typically about 30 seconds: the time of a typical elevator ride. An elevator pitch is approximately 80 to 90 words\, or 8 to 10 short sentences. \nWhy is an elevator pitch important? \nFirst impressions matter and research show that these are formed within seconds of the first encounter. \nThe goal of this two-module workshop is to provide IAHPC members a tool to make the most of anticipated and unexpected opportunities to relay a compelling message about palliative care. This elevator pitch workshop prepares you to effectively share information with others\, no matter how brief the opportunity. \nLearning objectives: By the end of the workshop participants will be able to: \n\nDefine the concept\, purpose\, and format for a palliative care elevator pitch.\nDevelop a personalized palliative care elevator pitch.\nPresent their palliative care elevator pitch effectively.\n\nAn internal committee will select twelve IAHPC members in good standing who respond to this call and meet the following criteria: \n\nHave good English speaking and writing skills\nCan access a high-speed internet connection\nAre available to participate in the two live sessions\n\nDates: June 26 and 27. He will suggest criteria to determine when oral therapy is appropriate and will answer questions about this topic. \nAbout the speaker: Dr. Davie Wong is an infectious disease consultant at Royal Columbian Hospital and Eagle Ridge Hospital in Fraser Health. He has an office practice in a multidisciplinary clinic in Burnaby called Centrio Medical Specialists. He also provides care for HIV patients at Positive Health Services clinic in Surrey. He is a member of the regional antimicrobial stewardship committee. Davie is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Disease at UBC. He obtained his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Manitoba\, before coming to UBC to complete his infectious disease fellowship.
