Description: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive debilitating respiratory illness which can eventually lead to respiratory failure. Breathlessness is the most common symptom and once traditional COPD therapies are exhausted, we enter the symptom management stage often called Palliative Care. There is, however, much we can do to relieve breathlessness. This session will review COPD as a progressive illness. After this session, participants will be able to:
- discuss how to optimize COPD management
- discuss how to recognize terminal breathlessness
- discuss how to manage terminal breathlessness
